Overview

The War Eagle Run Fest Half Marathon & 5K brings the passion of Auburn University’s game-day atmosphere to a spring running event in Auburn, Alabama. Centered around the Auburn campus and community, this race celebrates the Tigers’ spirit with a course that takes runners through the heart of one of the South’s most beloved college towns.

The half marathon course winds through Auburn’s tree-lined streets and past iconic campus landmarks, including Toomer’s Corner and Jordan-Hare Stadium. The terrain features gentle rolling hills typical of east-central Alabama, with a mix of campus roads, residential neighborhoods, and shaded paths. Spring weather in Auburn generally offers comfortable racing temperatures, and the enthusiastic crowd support — fueled by Auburn’s famously loyal fan base — keeps energy high from start to finish.

What makes War Eagle Run Fest special is the deep connection to Auburn’s community and traditions. The event draws runners from across the Southeast, many of them Auburn alumni who relish the chance to run through their college town. The post-race celebration captures the tailgate spirit that makes Auburn game days legendary. For runners who love college-town charm, Southern hospitality, and a well-organized spring half marathon in Alabama, War Eagle Run Fest delivers an experience that goes well beyond the miles.

Course Description

Starting at 7:00 a.m. sharp, runners will begin at the start line located just outside Jordan-Hare Stadium on the Auburn University campus. Once each corralled section has been waved through the start line, runners will then proceed to run passed Toomer’s Corner; an iconic street corner at the intersection of Magnolia Ave and College Street. Along the course, runners will jog past Auburn University’s President’s House and several other notable landmarks including the Hutsell-Rosen Track with which they’ll run a lap around. Finally, the Coliseum and Auburn Arena will be reached before ultimately returning to Jordan-Hare Stadium where it all began. With a cut-off time of 11:00 a.m., all participants of the half marathon are required to hold an 18-minute per-mile pace. Failure to do so will result in a DQ. In good old Auburn University fashion, all participants will then join one another for a tailgate outside the stadium once the finish line has been crossed and the commemorative medal has been obtained.
