Overview

From Sunday, August 10, 2025, to Sunday, November 9, 2025, Honolulu’s BioAstin Marathon Readiness Series, organized by Shaka Racing and Mid-Pacific Road Runners (MPRRC), guides runners through a progression of key races designed to prep for the December Honolulu Marathon.

The four-race series includes:

  1. Boca Norman Tamanaha 15K – Kapiolani Park, Aug 10
  2. Runner’s HI 20K – Barber’s Point, Aug 31
  3. Uloha Kailua Half Marathon – Kailua Beach Park, Sep 28 (5:30 AM start)
  4. Running Room Val Nolasco Half Marathon – Kapiolani Park, Nov 9 (5:30 AM start)

Each event is on paved, certified roads, with a mix of park loops, coastal stretches, and neighborhood routes. The series kicks off early—6:00 AM HST—and closes midway through race-day, offering organized pacing, aid stations, chip timing, and performance-focused gear like enhanced finisher shirts and medals.

Runners in previous editions praised the series’ structure and shirt quality:

“We’re going all out with custom performance shirts and medals for each event.”

The series fosters a community-driven environment, supporting club-paced groups, team categories, and a hoodie for the first 200 full-series registrants. Members of MPRRC receive discounted pricing on the $220–$280 series pass.

Why You’ll Love It

  1. Progressive prep: Structured build-up toward the Honolulu Marathon.
  2. Performance gear: Top-tier shirts, medals, team categories, and Hoodies.
  3. Club perks: MPRRC members enjoy discounts and group camaraderie.
  4. Scenic and certified: Beach, park, loop mixes perfect for fitness training.
  5. Advanced logistics: Aid stations, chip timing, early starts, and series incentives.
