Overview

The Tunnel Race Series was established in 2007 and continues to offer a full marathon
and half marathon on one of the most scenic courses in the country.

Marathon
* Boston Qualifier (USATF certification pending)
* No 5-minute Boston qualifying penalty
* Ideal course for achieving a PR or BQ


The marathon course heads east on the Palouse to Cascades Trail to the 6.55-mile
turnaround, then returns through the iconic Tunnel. After exiting the Tunnel, runners
enjoy 10 miles of stunning scenery, including sweeping views, waterfalls, and a gradual
1,000-foot elevation loss to the finish.

Course Description

Built for Speed

  • Approximately 1,000 feet of net downhill

  • Smooth, packed gravel surface (great for road or light trail shoes)

  • Point-to-point course finishing at Garcia Trailhead

This is a course designed for strong finishes, personal bests, and unforgettable race memories.

The 2026 Half Marathon course will be USATF-certified (certification scheduled following snowmelt in May).
