Overview

The Starved Rock Country Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K takes place in Ottawa, IL. The Half Marathon course is a point-to-point route starting in Starved Rock State Park, continuing along wooded sites and scenery along the Illinois River, and finishing in historic downtown Ottawa. The Run Starved Rock 5K will start and end at the same lines as the marathon, and follow part of the Half Marathon route before heading back to Ottawa for a finish along the river. A portion of this event will benefit local charities and events to promote running and physical activity. All event routes are on paved surfaces and lanes are used to control traffic. Event finishers will receive a participant shirt and race-specific medal, as well as post-race refreshments.

Course Description

The 2024 Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. The Half Marathon course is a point-to-point route starting in Starved Rock State Park, continuing along wooded sites and scenery along the Illinois River, and finishing in historic downtown Ottawa. Each runner will receive a participant shirt and finishers receive a race-specific medal. The Run Starved Rock 5K will start and end at the same lines as the marathon, and follow part of the Half Marathon route before heading back to Ottawa for a finish along the river. Race Weekend: Saturday, May 11th, 2024 Course Information: All event routes are on paved surfaces and lanes are used to control traffic. The half course will have 3 ambulance stations as well as a medical team provided by OSF and the OSF King Caravan at the Finish Line. The full course has 9 water/Gatorade stations and the half course has 7 water/Gatorade stations. Each station also has a porta potty. Lemon-lime Gatorade will be offered first followed by water at each station. The finish line will also have oranges, bananas, and bagels with or without peanut butter. The 5K will have three stations to get water and Gatorade if needed.
