Overview

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Run Vigor Big Cottonwood Canyon Half Marathon returns to deliver Utah’s classic net‑downhill road race experience. Hosted by TriUtah / Run Vigor, this event blends performance potential with canyon serenity.

???? Course & Runner Experience

Starting at an elevation of about 7,700 ft near Solitude Mountain Resort, runners board early shuttle buses (pre‑dawn) down Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, descending nearly 2,700 ft across 13.1 miles toward Old Mill Park in Cottonwood Heights. The course offers flowing downhill miles through aspen and evergreen forests, rushing creek side views, and a gentle flat finish.

Aid stations appear around miles 2, 5, 7, 10, and 12, supplying water, GU, snacks, and restrooms. Pre-start staging is indoors at Solitude Resort with hot drinks and warm indoor space; volunteers shuttle runners efficiently and manage logistics with ease. Post-race amenities include food, music, massage, and photo ops at historic Old Mill.

???? What Makes It Unique

This race stands out as one of Utah’s premier spring half marathons—USATF‑certified, beginner‑friendly yet PR or Boston‑qualifier capable, and impeccably organized. Participant reviews repeatedly praise the race logistics, beautiful scenery, energetic volunteers, and swag. For instance:

“The organization and volunteers were great… the course was perfect… best race I have ever run in terms of overall experience!” — Brittany
“Well‑organized… hot cocoa… Best shirt… Support and finish line snacks… loved it!” — Belinda & Ron
