Overview

The Run Singer Island Half Marathon & 10K takes runners along the beautiful Atlantic coastline of Singer Island, a barrier island in the Palm Beaches area of southeast Florida. Held each winter, this race offers a tropical oceanfront running experience with views of turquoise water, swaying palm trees, and the pristine beaches that make this stretch of the Gold Coast a popular getaway.

The half marathon course runs along Singer Island’s main road, Ocean Drive, with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Intracoastal Waterway visible on the other. The terrain is completely flat — as expected on a barrier island — making it a fast course for runners targeting a personal best. Winter racing conditions in south Florida bring warm but manageable temperatures, and the ocean breeze keeps runners comfortable. The compact island setting means spectators can easily move between course points to cheer runners on at multiple spots.

Singer Island’s location in Riviera Beach, just north of West Palm Beach, adds destination appeal to this race. Runners can enjoy the area’s world-class beaches, John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, and the dining and nightlife of nearby Palm Beach and West Palm Beach. The race maintains a relaxed, beach-town atmosphere with a manageable field size that keeps things personal. For runners seeking a flat, scenic winter half marathon on a beautiful Florida barrier island — with palm trees, ocean views, and warm weather guaranteed — Run Singer Island is an ideal escape from the cold.

Course Description

Starting at the Ocean Walk beach pavilion, runners proceed north along the coast. The course takes participants through John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, looping back around the turn around point shortly after mile 4.
Be prepared for some slight elevation as you cross the Blue Heron Bridge on your way back. The views are worth the effort, though—you’ll spot both Peanut Island and the Port of Palm Beach as you cross over.
At mile 8, runners will turn right to rack up some miles around the Marina before crossing back into the Palm Beach Shores neighborhood and heading back to the finish line.
Runners can expect plenty of course support along the way—aid stations with water, gatorade, and gels will appear approximately every mile on the half marathon course—and the generous 4-hour time limit makes the Run Singer Island Half Marathon walker-friendly.
At the finish line, participants can enjoy bananas, oranges, muffins, and bagels as they celebrate their accomplishments on the beach. Race organizers note that a number of local restaurants are also located near the finish line, for those who’d like a more substantial post-race meal.
