Overview

The Run, Forrest, Run Half Marathon is a themed race held annually in Santa Monica, California. Scheduled for July 12, 2025, this event celebrates the 29th anniversary of the iconic film Forrest Gump. Organized by High Tide Runs, the race offers a unique opportunity for participants to honor the beloved character by running along the scenic Santa Monica coastline.

The event includes multiple race distances—Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K—catering to a wide range of participants. The course is a flat, out-and-back route along the beach path, with the Half Marathon starting at 7:00 AM PDT. Participants are encouraged to dress up in Forrest Gump-inspired costumes, with prizes awarded to the best-dressed “Gumps.” The race is stroller and walker-friendly, making it accessible to runners of all levels. With its combination of scenic beauty, community spirit, and well-executed race logistics, the Run, Forrest, Run Half Marathon offers an exceptional racing experience for both local and visiting runners.

Course Description

Our courses are not closed, which means that there are often other runners, walkers, and others enjoying the day along with you. Safety is a must and all runners must stay on the pedestrian side of the beach path. The course never goes off the beach path. Courses are well marked with two water stations and restrooms along the way.

The 5k, 10, & 15k will all run the same course. The turnaround is located at mile 1.55 marked with a runner turn sign, large green flag, chalk, and small blue and orange flags.

5k will run 1 out and back lap

10k will run two out-and-back lap

The Half Marathon Runners will run 3 out and back laps.

The half marathon turn is located at mile 2.19 and marked with a large blue flag, runner turn sign, chalk, and small blue and orange survey flags.
