Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas is the only race in the world that shuts down the Las Vegas Strip for runners. The course sends you straight down Las Vegas Boulevard at night — past the Bellagio fountains, under the neon canopy of Fremont Street, and through the heart of the most recognizable skyline in the country. When the sun goes down and the Strip lights up, the race transforms into something no other event can replicate.
The evening start (typically around 4:30 PM for the half marathon) means you spend the day however you want — sleeping in, hitting the buffets, exploring the Strip — and then line up as the desert cools and the city comes alive. Live bands and DJs are stationed along the course in true Rock ‘n’ Roll series fashion, and the energy from spectators lining the boulevard is unlike any other road race. The course is almost entirely flat on well-paved roads, making it a legitimate option for runners chasing a fast time despite the party atmosphere.
February timing means Las Vegas temperatures hover around 65°F — close to ideal running conditions. McCarran International Airport is minutes from the Strip, and the sheer volume of hotel rooms means finding a place to stay is never the issue. The real challenge is not letting the Vegas weekend derail your race plan before you get to the start line.
