Overview

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2, 2025, when the athletic heart of Manhattan comes alive for the NYC Summer Half & 5 Miler in Central Park. Organized by CityTri and now at capacity, this annual summer event kicks off at 7:15 AM EDT, offering a USATF-certified half marathon and a scenic 5-mile race.

Course & Atmosphere
Participants take on the lush northern loop of Central Park—starting near East Drive and 102nd Street Crossing—then flow southward on West Drive, looping four times for the half or choosing the shorter route for 5 miles. Each circuit features seven split stations, four water/Gatorade stops, and dedicated runners-only lanes, supported by live race-tracking through RaceJoy and RaceMap. The early summer timing and shaded park canopy offer an energizing, crowd-cheered urban setting.

Why It’s Special

  • PR route in the city’s green core—a flat, fast and certified urban course.
  • Tech-savvy support—live split timing, RaceJoy tracking, and digital pacing guidance.
  • Spectator-friendly loops—perfect for family or friend support along the course.
  • Mini-race flexibility—choose between a 5-miler or full half based on your summer goal.

A city-cooled August morning, smooth pacing options, and lush park surroundings make this race a refreshing highlight of NYC’s summer race scene.

???? Why You’ll Love It

Perfect for Saturday morning PRs or a breezy urban escape, the NYC Summer Half delivers a smart balance of performance, technology, and scenic charm. Loop-accessibility makes it spectator-friendly, while early summer shade keeps it fresh. With top-tier support and Central Park views, it’s a standout summer must-do.
