Overview

The Naperville Half Marathon, 10K & 5K offers a perfectly refined autumn running experience in downtown Naperville. Since its debut in the early 2010s, this event has grown into a community staple, uniting fun, fitness, and fundraising—all while showcasing Naperville’s refreshing riverfront charm and historic neighborhoods.

Runners begin near the lively downtown race village, proceeding on a certified USATF loop course that winds through tree-lined streets, parklands, and picturesque riverfront paths. The half marathon starts at 9:00 AM CDT, with 10K and 5K waves staggered shortly after. With six aid stations positioned approximately every two miles, participants stay hydrated and fueled from start to finish.

Post-run, runners enjoy a festive race village featuring food, vendors, and local atmosphere. Multi-year finishers earn loyalty medals, and repeat racers can earn special “consecutive-year” and Chicago Distance Challenge awards. As one veteran local summed it:

“It’s a well-organized race that is local and fun with a lot of crowd support.”

Benefits abound beyond the run: participants can register for a virtual option (Oct 1–31), perfect for year-round challenge seekers.
