Overview

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Mountaineer Rumble Running Festival returns to Kings Mountain State Park with a full slate of race distances—including a half marathon, 10K, and 5K, all starting at 9:00 AM EDT. Post-race, runners are treated to their favorite food trucks and festival ambiance served lakeside at the park.

The half marathon is a certified road race (via run signup), charting roughly 13.1 miles through the park. Although classified as a road race, runners can expect scenic sections weaving through park roads and multi-use trail passages amidst pine and hardwood forest canopy. Rolling terrain offers moderate elevation—enough to challenge but still welcoming to beginner and recreational runners.

With competitive pricing tiers ($50 early increasing to $65 and $80 later) plus signup fees, all entries include park admission and a T-shirt, making this event high-value yet low fuss. Awards go to the top 3 male/female overall and top 3 in every standard age group (from 14 & under to 80+), and both runners and walkers are welcome.

What differentiates Mountaineer Rumble is its festival spirit in a natural state-park setting, a blend of community vibes, food trucks, and friendly competition across multiple distances. It’s equally attractive to those chasing fall PRs and families joining in the fun.

???? Why You’ll Love It

The Mountaineer Rumble Running Festival is a celebration of fall running inside a beautiful state park: road distances, forest views, food trucks, and a welcoming atmosphere. With walker options, age-group awards, and festival treats, it’s as much fun day out as race day. If you’d like help on pacing goals, trail-to-road gear suggestions, or traveling to Kings Mountain from Charlotte or Greenville, I’d be glad to assist!
