Overview

Bodies Race Company hosts the Hometown Half Marathon & 5K/10K along Des Moines’s scenic Trestle Trail at 2339 Euclid Ave. Now in its springtime edition, this event continues its tradition of combining certified racing with family-fun elements and community spirit.

The half marathon begins at 7:00 AM CDT, following a certified, chip-timed out-and-back route on paved trails and streets lined with supportive spectators, young dashers, and occasional sprinkler mists to cool runners in the warm May air. Beast Pacing pacers are available, guiding everything from Boston‑qualifier to comfortable finish times.

Expect aid stations every few miles, staffed by enthusiastic volunteers—some dressed up or waving pom-poms—to keep spirits high. Participants receive designer tech shirts and custom finisher medals, plus post-race treats and free photos. A Kids Dash, 1‑mile, 5K, 10K, and virtual option round out the inclusive vibe.

Local runners love its welcoming energy:

“People were super friendly and supportive… scenic run with both paved trail and some street sections… still tons of fun.”

Volunteer perks are excellent—those who help out can earn free entries or Amazon gift cards, with double entries for half-marathon helpers.
