The GOAT Run invites trail runners to tackle the Olympic Adventure Trail between Olympic National Park and Strait of Juan de Fuca, culminating at Lake Crescent’s bright-blue waters inside the park. Organized by Peninsula Adventure Sports, the event features three challenging distances: Half Marathon, Marathon, and 50K, each offering dramatic ridge and forest scenery paired with serious elevation.
???? Trail Experience & Highlights
Runners begin at the trailhead in Joyce, WA, then ride a mandatory shuttle to the start (times vary by distance). The Half Marathon begins at 10:00 AM PDT, followed by the Marathon at 8:30, and the 50K at 7:30 AM. While labeled a half marathon, that distance is slightly over 13.1 miles (14 mi), with 1,500 ft of elevation gain. The route features mainly single-track trails, runway log roads, and finishes with ¾ mile of pavement along East Beach Road to the finish at Log Cabin Resort. Aid stations serve water, snacks, and electrolytes at mile points throughout the courses.
???? What Makes It Unique
This epic race blends rugged wilderness with polished logistics: cupless sustainability, capped field sizes (115 per wave), safety shuttle service, chip timing, and a festive after-party at Log Cabin Resort complete with heavy snacks and a beer/cider garden. Portions of race proceeds support Peninsula Trails Coalition and local trail maintenance.
