Overview

The Fairfield Road Races Half Marathon brings more than 3,000 runners to Connecticut’s scenic shoreline each June for one of New England’s most popular summer half marathons. Based at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, the race winds through the charming coastal neighborhoods and tree-lined streets of this Long Island Sound community, offering a quintessential New England racing experience.

The course features a mix of flat coastal stretches and rolling inland hills, taking runners past historic homes, quiet residential streets, and occasional glimpses of the Sound. The June timing means warm conditions are likely, but ocean breezes along the shoreline sections provide welcome relief. The start and finish at Jennings Beach creates a festive, beach-party atmosphere, with runners celebrating their finish steps from the sand.

Sponsored by Faxon Law and deeply rooted in the Fairfield County running community, this race has built a loyal following over decades of consistent quality. The well-organized event draws competitive runners from across the Northeast alongside recreational runners enjoying a scenic tour of one of Connecticut’s most desirable coastal towns. For runners seeking a challenging but beautiful summer half marathon within easy reach of New York City, the Fairfield Road Races Half Marathon is a standout choice on the Connecticut shoreline.

Course Description

The Fairfield Road Races Half Marathon course was redesigned a few years ago, which starts and finishes near Jennings Beach. To reduce congestion at the starting line, the women and men have separate starting areas, and the two fields merge together by the time runners reach the first mile marker.
After that, all runners share the same route for the rest of the race, and run together all the way in to the finish line at Jennings Beach.
The out-and-back course for the half starts and finishes at Fairfield’s Jennings Beach, and takes runners past stately mansions as well as scenic beaches and bridges through Fairfield, Southport and nearby Greenfield Hill.
The race often sells out, so runners are encouraged to sign up early to make sure they successfully gain entry to the race — the half marathon is limited to the first 2,500 entrants, while the 5K is limited to the first 1,500.
