Overview

The communities bordering the Bay of Fundy are thrilled to announce the Bay of Fundy International Marathon (BFIM) will return on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Get ready for an awesome weekend packed with races that highlight the best of Downeast Maine and the Atlantic Maritimes. We’re super excited to bring you a marathon, half marathon, and 10k that not only showcase our beautiful surroundings but also bring our communities closer together.

Starting at the most easterly point in the USA, West Quoddy Lighthouse, the rolling USATF and Athletics Canada certfied  Marathon course offers miles of water and harbor views. Crossing from the International border by way of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Bridge and Lubec Narrows, the course takes runners past the President’s summer home in Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Traversing stunning Campobello Island over to Head Harbor Light, the course then retraces its steps back across the bridge to finish along Water Street in the heart of Lubec.

Course Description

The course is a combination point-to-point (West Quoddy Head to Lubec) and loop of Roosevelt Campobello International Park after crossing the Franklin D. Roosevelt International Bridge. Please note the Half-Marathon course, features 4.8 miles (7.7k) of dirt road. On-course markers are in 1-mile and 5-km increments.

Course Profile:

While the course does not climb more than 200 feet / 60 metres above sea level, it goes up and down. Total course elevation gain is approximately 574 feet / 175 meters.

Porta-potties are located at the school parking area, the start, the finish, and at various points along the course.

There will be shuttle buses from the school to the start as there is no private vehicular access to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse on race morning.

Most parking is less than half a mile from the finish line, but there will be shuttle buses at the end of the race too for anyone who needs them.

Runners may check one small soft bag at the starting area to be transported to Lubec for retrieval near the finish line.

Water and gatorade stations are less than 2 miles / 3.2 kms apart. No gel station on course.
