Overview

Run the Alamo takes runners through the historic heart of San Antonio on a course that passes directly by the Alamo, along the famous River Walk, and through the King William Historic District — one of the most beautiful residential neighborhoods in Texas. The course delivers a genuine tour of San Antonio’s layered history, from Spanish colonial missions to Victorian-era mansions, all connected by the winding San Antonio River.

The March timing puts you in San Antonio at one of its most pleasant windows — temperatures in the 60s with low humidity, before the Texas summer heat arrives. The course is flat to gently rolling on city streets, making it a comfortable option for runners of all levels. The race’s proximity to the River Walk means spectators can easily move between course sections, creating pockets of energy throughout the route.

San Antonio International Airport is about 15 minutes from downtown, and the River Walk area offers some of the most convenient race-weekend logistics of any destination half marathon — hotels, restaurants, and the start/finish are all within easy walking distance. The city’s Tex-Mex scene is legendary, and the restaurants along the River Walk and in the Pearl District offer excellent pre-race dining options.

Course Description

They’ll run past the city’s famed Majestic Theater, built in 1929 and inspired by the architecture of the Spanish Mission and Baroque styles, the onetime movie house today is home to traveling Broadway productions as well as the San Antonio Symphony.
After passing the Majestic Theater, the race continues south of downtown San Antonio, roughly following the route of the San Antonio River. Runners will pass Roosevelt Park and the Riverside Golf Course before reaching the turnaround point at the golf course.
At the turnaround point, the race takes runners north, retracing some of their steps before taking a detour into Concepcion Park and then running along the River Walk all the way back to the finish line.
